Introducing Colorado Springs Chiropractor Dr. Jeffrey Henry

Dr. Jeff Henry Colorado Springs Chiropractor

I first became a chiropractic patient as a teenager.  I thought it was kind of strange and was a little afraid at first.  I didn't understand how moving my spine could have such dramatically positive effects on the rest of my health.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis as a young teenager, and was soon amazed and relieved at what a difference chiropractic care made in my life.  This saved me from years of wearing a rigid spinal brace called a Milwaukee brace or having to undergo dangerous spinal surgery.  I also injured my back in high school wrestling, and was in more pain than I had ever experienced.  Just trying to put on shoes and socks was so painful it nearly made me vomit.  That's when I was blessed to meet  Dr. Dahlgaard, D.C.  He adjusted me and showed me some things I could do at home to help me recover.  He also taught me about how the nervous system controls and directs the function of every cell in my body.  As a young science nerd, this was music to my ears.  I was amazed at how I not only recovered from severe low back pain, but was much healthier overall.  I no longer got the "common" cold, which often developed into bronchitis three or four times a year, for example.

Dr. Dahlgaard encouraged me to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, but I was convinced I wanted to be a Doctor of Medicine instead.  I went through the pre-med curriculum at Iowa State University, and was ready to attend the University of Iowa Medical School.  I decided, however, to first spend two years in the Peace Corps, and I was sent to Nepal.

One of the many things I learned in Nepal was the difference between crisis intervention and wellness.  I'm glad we have people who know how to intervene medically in case of injury, for example, but I learned that avoiding disease, avoiding crisis by staying well and practicing wellness, which includes getting chiropractic care, is a much healthier way to live.

I studied for my Master in Science degree, and was on staff at several universities before my wife Kathleen and I decided to leave Higher Education and go into private practice.  I graduated with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri.

Our Colorado Springs clinic was founded on one simple, but powerful philosophy:  We treat patients the way we would hope and pray our family would be treated if they were in someones clinic.  Our clinic is the best fit for people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and want to break out of the cycle of symptom-treating, and become truly as healthy as they can be.

I view myself as your health coach.  You tell me what goals you have, and what you used to be able to do that you'd like to do again, and I'll help you get there.  For some this means setting a new personal best in the Pikes Peak Marathon.  For others, it simply means being able to play with their grandchildren again, or having their child be free of ear infections, not having headaches or that "normal" nagging back pain, or having more energy than they have had in years.

Your goals are as unique as you are.  While similarities exist, your treatment plan will not be like everyone else's.  My coaching and treatment plan will show you how you can reach your goals.  This includes consideration of what you do on a daily basis, your habits, hobbies, stresses, nutrition, and other aspects of being on Planet Earth that can impair your ability to be healthy.  I can turn on the ignition, and get things going, but truly you and the Great Physician do the healing.  I'll be there to celebrate each milestone of success, and to help you steer around the cliffs and rocks along the road to better health.

Some of my greatest joys come from seeing people get their lives back.  I am routinely privileged to see miracles happen.  People often start chiropractic care only after years of needless suffering and taking dangerous drugs.  The look on the faces of people after they become healthy and more vibrantly alive is truly a gift I want to help more people experience.

Regardless of your health goals, we are here to help you make educated, well-informed choices, and to respect and nurture you to be as healthy as you can be.  That's what we want for our family, and that's what we offer you.

I have always enjoyed nature and being outdoors.  I enjoy hiking, backpacking and just being in mountain wilderness.  I have had the opportunity to backpack in mountains all over the world, including the Mount Everest area of Nepal.   None give me quite the sense of being "home" as our Rocky Mountains, though.  It is such a privilege to live in a place so beautiful.

I have to admit that I didn't become a wellness patient early enough in life. I am one now, though!  I see my chiropractor once a week, eat well, exercise at least three times a week, and sometimes get enough rest.  (I'm not good at sitting still.)

My family gets regular chiropractic care, too.  Our daughter rarely even catches a cold, and has never been on antibiotics.  She has only had one ear infection in her entire life, and that resolved well with the same natural chiropractic care I provide for my other patients.

We do keep some over-the-counter pain relievers in our first aid kit at home, and I'm thankful to have them.  I'm even more grateful, however, for not needing them.  I long ago lost count of how many bottles of expired Tylenol I have thrown away.

Well, enough about me.   I would really appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and to discuss your health goals and how safe and natural chiropractic care can help you achieve them.

It would be my privilege to help you and your family become as healthy as they were meant to be!

Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

Dr. Jeff Asks some important questions of interest to Colorado Springs residents - Chiropractor Colorado Springs Dr. Jeff Asks...

Can chiropractic cure a child's ear infections?
Chiropractic isn't a cure for anything. Nor is it a treatment for ear infections. However, many children who suffer with ear infections also suffer from spinal problems in their neck, compromising nerves to the ear, depressing the immune system and preventing proper drainage. Can chiropractic help? Find out!
Why are frequent visits advised when starting chiropractic care?
Consistent visits at the beginning of your chiropractic care help create the momentum necessary to correct and retrain unhealthy spinal patterns. Later, Colorado Springs patients find that continued care on a less frequent visit schedule can help preserve their progress and avoid a relapse.
